then & now
Then & Now is a rephotographic project using images from the
late 19th and early 20th, taken by Ernest Bush. Using
these old images the original locations were tracked down and
the view from that point photographed.
The changes that took place throughout the 20th century were in
some cases very evident - whole rows or houses and shops had
long since been demolished. In other cases the changes
were more subtle - the detail in the buildings had changed, but
the main structures remained untouched. In all cases the
passing of time was apparent.
